The newest member of Grand Prairie Police Department's K-9 team is Rocco, a Belgian Malinois that is dual trained in searching out narcotics and apprehending fleeing suspects. Just 21 months old but well equipped, Rocco is now working the streets after two months of specialized training with his assigned handler, Officer Albert Martinez.

Rocco joins two other K-9s on the Grand Prairie Police force. Aico, also a Belgian Malinois, acquired in February, 2009, is trained like Rocco on narcotic detection, tracking, suspect apprehension and handler protection. Both Rocco and Aico came to the United States from Holland and were purchased from a vendor in Alabama.
