The city of Grand Prairie received $372,620 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-R) funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The city receives CDBG funding on an annual basis and the guidelines for CDBG funding issued under the Recovery Act differ slightly from the usual requirements. CDBG-R funding places an emphasis on job creation and retention through housing, infrastructure improvement, energy efficiency and economic development activities. These projects must start within 120 days of receiving the grant agreement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The city of Grand Prairie will utilize CDBG-R funding to assist with Emergency Repair and Rehabilitation of homes, for qualified low/moderate income families. The objective of CDBG-R Emergency Repair and Rehabilitation is to provide safe, sanitary, and healthy living environments for qualified Grand Prairie citizens.
