The Grand Prairie Police Department applied for a Justice Assistance Grant through the Bureau of Justice Assistance for funds to reduce crime and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the police department and to make the community safer by giving law enforcement officers the latest technology to help prevent and solve crime. The funds will be used to purchase equipment to provide for officer safety and to add equipment to vehicles, which would better enable officers to respond to emergency calls. Items include tasers, electronic flares, information sharing programs and tactical surveillance equipment. |
