3:30 PM - 4:30 PM. Chinese Lion Dance by J.K. Wong Academy Musicians and dancers from the J.K. Wong Academy will present a Chinese Lion Dance. After a presentation, audience members will have a chance to learn and participate. Lions are not native in China, and came to China via the famous Silk Road. Rulers in what is today Iran and Afghanistan sent lions to Chinese emperors as gifts in order to get the right to trade with Silk Road merchants. The lion dance dates back to the Han Dynasty (205 B.C.) and it was at its peak during the Tang Dynasty (716-907 A.D.). The Lion Dance embraces the beauty, art, culture, traditions, and history of China.
