
We’re closing Main Street for good old-fashioned fun for the Main Street Festival, 5 – 11 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 8 a.m. – midnight Saturday, April 27, at Market Square, 120 W. Main St., Grand Prairie.
In addition to Farmers Market fresh fruits and vegetables, the festival kicks off with bands and a carnival Friday night, continuing all day Saturday and Saturday night. Chris Brake, champion street chalk artist, will be adorning the sidewalks of Market Square with his art. Arts, craft vendors, food, BMX bike performances, games, street performers and face painters complete the fun.
Friday night’s carnival is punctuated with a 7 p.m. performance by the ever popular, No. 1 rock 'n' roll show band in the world Vince Vance and the Valiants.
Headlining Saturday will be those rockin’ gals of Shake, Rattle and Roll at noon; the multi-talented, energetic, "Stomp Style" percussion and musical specialty act of Vocal Trash at 5 p.m., and America’s premier dance band, that Texas quintet who have perfected the mix of salsa, meringue, rock, cha cha, zydeco, the blues and polka, Brave Combo at 7 p.m. Times are subject to change. Local bands, dancers and singers will round out the stage performances throughout the event.
A carnival with rides, fair food and a Ferris wheel will operate 5 – 11 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 8 a.m. – midnight Saturday, April 27. Wristbands for unlimited carnival rides are $20/day. A discounted $10 wristband for Friday night only will be available on www.GrandFunGP.com. Or, patrons may pay per ride.
Admission and parking are free. Food, drink, art, crafts, gifts, carnival rides and games and Farmers Market wares available for purchase.
