The Grand Prairie Police Department offers a free Teen Police Academy one week each summer for Middle School kids ages 13-14 (7th and 8th graders) who may be interested in learning more about a career in law enforcement and how the police department functions.

Applicants must have successfully completed the 6th grade and pass a background check, including school discipline referrals.

Check back in March 2015 for information about the 2015 session of the Teen Academy.

Contact Officer Griesinger with any questions.

Topics Covered
Some of the topics to be covered in the academy include:

  • History of Law Enforcement
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • K-9 and SWAT

Participants will be able to put what they learn into action by working a mock crime scene and using their new skills and knowledge to solve the crime.
