Give the Gift of Comfort
Posted Date: 12/5/2013

Citizens are giving the gift of comfort to Grand Prairie Animal Shelter dogs and cats this holiday season through the Kuranda “Donate a Bed” program. By ordering online at, the public can have a dog or cat bed shipped in their name directly to the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at a special 35 percent donation discount.

"Generous individuals have already given 55 dog beds," said Animal Services Manager Danielle Tate. "Our goal now is to receive the same number of beds for our shelter cats."

During the month of December Prairie Paws Animal Shelter has a gift of its own to give.

“We love our animal guests ‘like the Dickens,’” Tate said. “So much so that we have great expectations that we can reduce the number of animals at the shelter by giving most away during December.”

The shelter is running a “Love Pets Like the Dickens” adoption special through Dec. 31. Regular price adoptions are $70, but Dec. 1-31, dogs and cats are half price, and adult cats are free.
