Library to Host Book Launch for Local Author Releasing Book No. 2 of Memoirs
Posted Date: 1/8/2014

The Grand Prairie Main Library, 901 Conover Drive, will host a book launch at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, for author Fred G. Dickenson, who is releasing his personal memoir of the many hardships he faced and the joys that got him through in his second book, "Hard Knocks & Consequences Too: You Still Have a Lot to Learn" (published by WestBow Press).

“Hard Knocks & Consequences Too” is Dickenson's collection of short stories and anecdotes taken from the colorful and often miraculous moments of his life. Dickenson describes himself as a man who "by all rights shouldn't be here." His many close encounters with death take readers from Dickenson's early life to his career in the U.S. Air Force and all of his travels in between. Each chapter concludes with a life lesson and biblical passage.

"The book is an easy read that people can and do relate to," says Dickenson. "It is a blend of humor, love and emotion that makes the reader feel good about themselves and their lot in life."

Fred G. Dickenson is a retired captain from the U.S. Air Force with more than 30 years in journalism and communications. He holds a B.A. in communications from Wright State University in Fairborne, Ohio, an M.A. in English/communications and a Texas teacher certification from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

Books will be for sale at the event.
