The city of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts and Recreation Department will host free Spring Gardening Classes at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library, 901 Conover Dr., every Thursday 6:30-8 p.m. through March 17, excluding March 6.
Parks invites everyone to come and bring a friend to learn about outdoor landscaping, growing flowers with little expense, and reducing out-of-pocket costs. The classroom seats 100 people and is first come, first serve.

Feb. 20th – Spring Maintenance & Vegetable Gardening – Take the mystery out growing your own vegetables and put quality produce on the table. You can reduce your grocery bill and improve your health through this simple process.
Feb. 27th – Perennial Color – Improve your curb appeal by adding color to the landscape that comes back year after year. Reduce your out of pocket costs for annual color by adding perennials.
March 13th – Organic Gardening 101 – Learn to "go green" by using these tried and true methods to rid your garden and landscape of those unwanted creatures.
March 20th – Containers – Stretching the Space – Learn to increase your landscaped areas by using containers and find out how to recycle even an old boot into a planter! Contain your garden to increase area and productivity.
March 27th – Going Native – This class will help you develop a landscape that will grow on for years and reduce your water bill, fertilizer and replacement costs. Learn to plant things that will survive our Texas soils and climate.
