It will soon be that time again – time to exercise your right to vote in the November General Election.

  • Monday, October 6 Last day to register to vote in the November 2014 election
  • Monday, October 20 Early voting begins and will continue through Friday, Oct. 31
  • Tuesday, November 4 Election Day

Bring your ID

When you vote, please remember Texans are now required to present a photo ID at the polls. You may choose one of the following:

  • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Texas Personal Identification card issues by the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Texas concealed handgun license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • U.S. military identification card containing your photograph
  • U.S. citizenship certificate containing your photograph
  • U.S. passport
  • Free Election Identification Certificate issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety

NOTE: With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the photo ID must be current or expired no more than 60 days.

If you do not have an approved ID, you can apply for a free Election Identification Certificate from the DPS. If you have a documented disability, you can apply for a permanent exemption from the photo ID requirement. And, in almost every circumstance, voters who vote by mail will not need photo ID.

WHAT’S ON THE BALLOT?

Some of the offices you will see on the November 4, 2014 ballot:

  • United States Senator
  • Texas Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Attorney General
  • Comptroller of Public Accounts
  • Several Other State and Judicial Offices
  • Constitutional Amendment regarding the state highway fund

You can find a sample ballot containing all offices for which you are eligible to vote by visiting the appropriate County Election website (depending on whether you live in Dallas or Tarrant County):
