Higher Education
Seven public universities and eight independent universities in the region totaled enrollment of 148,219 in fall 2012 (preliminary, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board). The universities, among them University of Texas campuses (Arlington and Dallas), offer programs from engineering to business and degrees from bachelor's to medical doctorates.
In addition to their degree programs, many of these colleges and universities offer business consulting, employee training specific to a company's skill demands, community health care services, economic and land development research, computer and information services and library facilities open to the community.
