2011

Grand Prairie was named Air North Texas Partner of the Year, recognized for educating and motivating North Texans to make clean air choices.

 

2010
Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful was honored by Keep America Beautiful in December 2010 as having the top program in the nation for litter prevention, waste management and community improvement for a city with a population between 50,000 and 200,000.

 

2009

The City of Grand Prairie received a $1.4 million federal grant from the Department of Energy for energy efficiency programs.

Project Planning Award for Grand Prairie's Ordinance on Small Wind Energy Systems, from the Midwest Section of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association.

2009 Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas Urban Forestry Program given to Mrs. Ruthe Jackson, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.


2008

Governor's Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Texas Environmental Excellence Award for an Individual, given to Mrs. Ruthe Jackson, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.
