Grand Prairie Police Chief to Go Over the Edge for Special Olympics
Posted Date: 10/12/2012

GRAND PRAIRIE – Grand Prairie Police Chief Steve Dye will go over the edge of a 15-story building, rappelling down, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, after raising over $1,000 for Special Olympics Texas.

Thanks to the generosity of many members of our community, Chief Dye has already met the $1,000 fund-raising minimum to participate in "Over the Edge," which is an event sponsored by Special Olympics Texas and and conducted statewide to raise awareness and money (and your heart rate) to support more than 44,000 Special Olympics Texas athletes. Dallas-areas participants including Chief Dye will rappel down the Bank Tower at Oak Cliff, 400 S. Zang Blvd., in Dallas, on Nov. 10.

The plan now is to keep the donations coming to benefit Special Olympics Texas.

To contribute, make checks payable to “Special Olympics Texas.” Donations are tax-deductible. Donation drop-off locations:

City Hall, 317 College St.
City Hall Annex, 318 W. Main St.
Public Safety Building, 1525 Arkansas Ln.
Chamber of Commerce, 900 Conover Dr.
