Rocking Texas bluesman Buddy Whittington will take the spotlight at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Uptown Theater, 120 E. Main St.
Buddy is a blues master in the strictest sense, with a powerful voice and highly creative, technically amazing guitar licks. In addition to writing excellent material, which his band features, he's a walking library of blues history, breathing vibrant life into a wide range of material – everything from Freddy King to Z Z Top, Stevie Ray to Otis Rush.
Buddy spent 15 years touring the world with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. He's been on his own since Mayall "retired" and dissolved the band in 2008. Over the years, Mayall's band had many members who have gone on to prominence in the music world, including Eric Clapton, Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), and Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) – so when Mayall said Buddy is "probably the greatest Bluesbreaker of them all," it was high praise indeed!
