To celebrate the new Youth Boxing Program, the Grand Prairie Police Department and Grand Prairie Independent School District hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 16, 2012.
More than 30 youth ages 13 to 16 meet nearly every day with a team of volunteer coaches who not only teach participants how to box but also help students develop leadership skills to succeed in life outside the boxing ring.
Funded through community and corporate donations, the Grand Prairie Police Youth Boxing Program seeks to prepare young people to become successful and productive citizens by providing educational and social development activities, which foster self-esteem and instill leadership attributes.
