Fifty-five pounds down, the once obese dachshund Obie is making a stop at Prairie Paws Adoption Center, 2222 W. Warrior Trail, Thursday Nov. 21, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., for a meet and greet. The public is invited to attend, as are their vaccinated and socially friendly pets.
The Facebook-sensation Obie, once weighing 77 pounds, has more than 130,000 likes, and is thanking his fan base with a meet and greet. Come out to hear more about Obie’s effort to spread awareness and promote education to prevent obesity and unwanted pets.
In honor of Obie, Prairie Paws will feature a half-off adoption special for dogs and cats, from Thursday Nov. 21 to Saturday Nov. 23.
The half-off adoption fee is $35 and includes a $50 spay/neuter voucher. Adult dogs will be heartworm tested. All animals will be micro-chipped and will receive 5-in-1 and kennel cough for dogs and the 3-in-1 FVRCP for cats. Those wishing to adopt must fill out an application for approval before receiving the animal, and must provide certification of rabies and spay and neuter within 30 days of the animal’s adoption. Up to two pets per household may be adopted. The offer is valid only for new adoptions.
In addition, for $10, the shelter will offer to microchip your pet at the meet and greet. The Prairie Paws Animal Shelter is located at 2222 W. Warrior Trail and normal operating hours are:
Tuesday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed noon – 1 p.m.)
