GRAND PRAIRIE - The United States Navy Band Sea Chanters of Washington D.C. will make one of two stops in Texas to perform at the Chamber Auditorium of Grand Prairie High School, 101 High School Drive, Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this are limited, and are available now at Grand Prairie’s Uptown Theater, 120 E. Main, at 972-237-8786. The ensemble provides entertainment for all ages playing traditional choral, opera, Broadway and contemporary music.

As the United States Navy’s official chorus, the Sea Chanters have made appearances on shows such as “Larry King Live” and “CBS This Morning.” The ensemble has comforted the nation with performances during times of mourning such as the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance at the National Cathedral in Washington after the events of 9/11 and funerals of former President Nixon and former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

The United States Navy Band was founded in 1925 and is comprised of 170 enlisted musicians, the majority of which have attained undergraduate and graduate degrees. With more than 270 public concerts and 1,300 ceremonies preformed annually, the Navy Band plays with intent to “inspire patriotism, elevate esprit de corps, enhance Navy awareness and public relations, support recruiting and retention effort, preserves our nation's musical heritage, and project a positive Navy image at home and abroad.”
