Bringing Words to Life
a dramatic reading by Dr. Brandi Andrade
Posted Date: 7/2/2014

Grand Prairie’s Warmack Branch library hosts Brandi Andrade in a dramatic reading.

On July 15 at 7 pm, Dr. Andrade from UTA's Theater Arts Dept. will read selections from Pearl Cleage's The Brass Bed and Other Stories. Cleage is the author of What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day, which was an early Oprah Book Club book.

Professor Andrade has a Ph.D. in Feminist Aesthetics and Theatre from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a producing partner at Echo Theatre, where she is the Artistic Director of a popular reading series introducing audiences to the work of significant women playwrights of the past and present. She has studied theatre in London as well, and performed in theatres as far-flung as Hawaii, Arizona, and Oklahoma; closer to home, she has worked in most of the theatres in the metroplex.

This program is part of "Literary Elements," an adult summer reading program at the Grand Prairie libraries. Participants of this program earn the chance to win a Kindle Fire. A grand prize winner will be drawn for each of the three libraries at the end of the summer.

The Betty Warmack Branch is located at 760 Bardin Rd, at Robinson. For more information call 972-237-5772.
