The City of Grand Prairie Large Brush Pickup Program is operated year round on a rotation basis from north to south week by week and provides curbside pickup of brush that is not practical or eligible for collection by the city’s weekly garbage collection. (For your tree limbs and brush to be picked up with your regular weekly garbage, just bundle into 6-foot lengths no larger than 1 cubic yard and no heavier than 50 lbs, and place it next to your household garbage. Bagged leaves and shrubs will be collected with household garbage but not grass clippings.) Brush must originate from the residential property pickup location only. The program operates by geographic zones within a designated week of each month.
Large Brush Pickup Fees
- Residents receive one free brush pickup each month up to 5 cubic yards.
- Residents are charged $85 for each additional 5 cubic yards after the once-a-month free pickup. Residents are charged $85 for any special request pickup that is not scheduled during the assigned week (see Brush Pickup Schedule and Map for assigned schedule).
- Residents can be fined if they place brush at the curbside for an extended amount of time.
*If a resident has an oversized pile, a notice will be placed on their front door, which requires the resident's signature authorizing the City to add the extra charge to the resident's water bill. Residents who do not respond to the notice within 24 hours, must remove the pile from the curb within three days or be subject to City Code violations.
Placement and PickupBrush for pickup must be placed at the curb no earlier than one week before pickup in your area and no later than 7 a.m. on the Monday of the designated week. We will be in the area designated all week. No appointment is needed and we do not pick up brush in the alley. Just put your brush out at the first of your pickup week and we'll do the rest! (See Brush Pickup Schedule and Map.)
Brush must be neatly piled at least two feet away from utility poles, trees, gas and water meters, fire hydrants, fences, mailboxes, sprinkler heads, and any other obstacles that would prevent collection. No vehicles should be parked in front of brush.
City of Grand Prairie ordinance provides that brush placed at the curbside for this program shall at no time obstruct any city sidewalk, right-of-way, or view of traffic.
Brush Pile SizeThe maximum size allowed for the free brush pickup is 5 cubic yards, or about 8 feet wide by 6 feet long by 5 feet tall, about the size of a small car. Residents are charged $85 for each additional 5 cubic yards.
Allowed: Brush only, which includes tree limbs, shrubs, trunks and other parts of shrubs and trees up to 20 inches in diameter.
NOT Allowed: Grass clippings, leaves, stumps, root balls, weeds, flowers, wire, fencing, or any other foreign materials.
