The Grand Prairie Farmers Market will be buzzing Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, as the market hosts a beekeeping class from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Market Square, 120 W. Main St. The class, which will be led by a team of Round Rock Honey’s Beekeeper Academy instructors, will teach participants the finer points of organic beekeeping. The course will give a basic introduction to bees, beekeeping and honey production. The class will allow participants to come and go at their leisure, and it will be free to anyone who is interested. As Beekeeper Academy courses are generally $125 and by reservation only, this is an opportunity that can’t be missed!
The Grand Prairie Farmers Market sells locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, tamales, candles, soaps and much more. The market is open Saturdays, spring to December, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
