This permit classification is for permit applications otherwise not listed. 

Examples may include but may not be limited to: 

  • Temporary structures such as tents, Modular structures, construction trailers, etc.
  • Racking systems – Typically warehousing racking systems
  • Solar or Generator systems
    • Please submit all design documents as needed for installation type
  • Other (any permit type not currently identified for submittal)

Step 1.Review Requirements

The following is required prior to issuance of a permit:

  • Address 
  • Square footage (if applicable)
  • Valuation
  • Description of work (Example: Temporary Structure)
  • Additional information: Provide detailed description of proposed work, “Use” of structure, name of business, is electrical, plumbing, or mechanical/HVAC part of project?
  • Provide contact information for owner, licensed contractor(s) as needed, Architect or Engineer as needed
  • Plans submittal for proposed work Example: Site Plan, architectural/Structural plans, Miscellaneous plans as needed

Step 2.Apply Online

You can apply online for a building permit through the City of Grand Prairie's Customer Self-Service portal. First time users will need a valid email address to set up an account. It takes about 5 minutes to create a new account.

What next?

After completing the online application, permits are processed in approximately 5-10 business days. Depending on updates needed from the applicant, as this can result in longer approval times.
