Food Service Permits

If you plan to sell, distribute, or store food (or alcohol) in the City of Grand Prairie, you must apply for the required permit(s). The Public Health and Environmental Quality Department processes the following types of food service permits:

Alcohol Permit

Obtain an Alcohol Permit to sell, distribute, or store any intoxicating liquor, malt liquor, or other alcoholic beverages.

Food Handler Cards / Certificates

Apply for a Food Handler Certificate and complete a Food Handler Class for workers in the food industry.

Food Handler Classes

Find a food handler class in English or Spanish and earn your Food Handlers Certificate.

Food Manager Certification

Take the required Texas Department of State Health Services exam and apply for a Food Manager Certification.

Garage Sale with Food Permit

Apply for a Garage Sale with Food Permit if you plan to serve food at a church or community garage sale (non-residential).

Health Permit

Apply for a Health Permit in order to operate a new or remodeled food establishment.

Ice Cream Push Cart Permit

Review the requirements and apply for an Ice Cream Push Cart Permit.

Itinerant Food Vendor Permits

Review the requirements and apply for an Itinerant Food Vendor Permit.

Mobile Food Truck Permit

Review the requirements and apply for a Mobile Food Truck Permit.

Special Event Permit

Obtain a Special Event Permit and provide supporting documentation, including insurance coverage.

Temporary Food Establishment Permit

Apply for a Temporary Food Establishment Permit (in conjunction with a Special Event Permit) for food establishments in a fixed location for up to 14 days.
