Food Manager Certification

Requirements

A person in charge of a food establishment must possess a Certified Food Manager (CFM) Certificate obtained through a Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) accredited CFM training program.

The food manager certificate shall be posted in the food establishment in view of the consumers. A Certified Food Manager shall be present at the food establishment during all hours of operation. Food Code, §2-101.11 and §2-102.12.

Certification Process

Pass Required Exam for DSHS Certified Food Manager Certificate

The food manager certification is obtained by passing a Texas DSHS or ANSI-CFP approved food manager certification examination. The examination may be taken at any accredited examination provider or training program.

An official Certified Food Manager Certificate is issued to each candidate upon passing the examination. This certificate must be posted in an area that is conspicuous to the consumers. Certification is valid for five years.
