Water Service Line Inventory

The service line is the pipe that runs from the water main to the point the pipe enters the residence or building. Ownership is usually shared by the City and the property owner. The City owns the portion from the water main to the water meter, including the water meter. The property owner owns the portion from the meter to the point where it enters the residence or building.

City personnel have been working over the past two years to build an inventory of both city- and customer-owned service lines. This inventory is required to be completed by October 16, 2024. Customers will be notified by mail if their service line is either unknown, lead or galvanized and requiring replacement within 30 days of when the inventory is completed.

Once the inventory is complete, it will be published on this website to allow all residents to view the inventory themselves. We will also begin to develop a replacement plan for pipes that require replacement with the ultimate goal to get all pipes needing replacement out of the ground no later 2037. To date, no lead service lines have been identified.
