West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Samples Reported

The City of Grand Prairie reports two West Nile Virus positive mosquito samples. Maps of the areas where mosquitoes where collected can be found below.

Due to winds exceeding 10 mph, spraying for mosquitoes will not be scheduled to prevent the movement of spray droplets to any site other than the areas intended. Mosquitoes in the areas will continue to be monitored and retested as necessary.    

Area 1(PDF, 26KB) is bound by Gifford Street on the north, NE 33rd Street and Hensley Drive on the east, Main Street on the south, and NE 28th Street on the west.

Area 2(PDF, 16KB) is bound by Interstate 30 EB on the north, NE 23rd Street on the east, Fishburn Street and Willow Street on the south, and NE 16th Street on the west.


All Grand Prairie residents are asked to help eliminate the areas that mosquitoes need to breed by emptying, removing or covering any receptacle that can hold water.

The City of Grand Prairie conducts regular tests on mosquito samples throughout the city as part of its West Nile Virus surveillance program.
