Tool Lending Trailer

Borrow tools for free from the City of Grand Prairie!

Our tool sharing program is a great way to save money and help the environment. You can borrow tools for a variety of projects, including mowing and yard maintenance, tree/shrub trimming, pressure washing, painting, and household fence repair.

We hope you will take advantage of our tool sharing program! It's a great way to get the tools you need without having to buy them yourself.

Pickup Dates and Locations

The pickup location has changed to the Tourism Information Center – 2170 N. Belt Line Rd, 75050; pick-up/drop-off hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Reserve Your Tools

Once you've made your reservation and it's been approved, you'll have to pick-up the tools from the Tourism Information Center – 2170 N. Belt Line Rd, 75050 - that weekend.

You'll have to show your ID or proof of residence, complete a waiver, and confirm your reservation by the Thursday prior to your pickup at noon.

FAQs

Up to 4 tools can be checked out from one category at a time
Depending on the tools that a person checked out, they may be given ear plugs, safety glasses, dust masks, and/or hard hats
Residents can check out the same tools/equipment more than once, but they can only make one reservation at a time. Once completed, they may reserve the same or different tools/equipment
Staff provides a 100’ extension cord for electric equipment
Residents are provided with a copy of any guides or owner’s manuals that come with the tools/equipment (staff doesn’t show them how to use it)
Commercial use is not allowed

How to Reserve Tools

Make reservations with either our form, phone 972-237-2014, or text 945-283-4928.

Reservations should be made no later than Tuesday by 5pm before the pick-up date. You will receive a phone call and email with regards to the status of your reservation.

You are required to confirm your reservation by Wednesday at Noon. If we do not receive confirmation of your reservation, it will be cancelled.

Tool Maintenance

Tools are inspected between uses and maintenance is performed as necessary

If a tool is broken during normal use, staff will replace the tool

If a tool is damaged outside of normal wear and tear, or is lost, the resident may be held responsible for repair or replacement
