Summer Reading Club

How does the Summer Reading Club work?

Welcome to the Grand Prairie Library’s Summer Reading Club! This annual program is designed to encourage readers of all ages to dive into books throughout the summer months. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can participate:

1. Track Your Reading

Use your reading log to keep track of your read hours. Each time you read, check off the 20-minute increments on your log! You need to read for a total of 5 hours to complete a reading log. Once a log is complete, turn it in at any of our three libraries!

2. Attend Library Programs

Throughout the summer, we host a variety of programs designed to make reading and learning even more fun! From storytime sessions and book clubs to craft workshops and music programs, there’s something for everyone. Each program you attend counts as one hour of reading on your reading log. Check out our printed guide or online events calendar regularly so you don’t miss out.

3. Earn Rewards

As you reach your reading milestones, you’ll earn rewards! For children, these can include trinkets, small toys, or coupons to local Grand Prairie businesses. For Teens and Adults, completed logs count as entries into our monthly drawings and grand prize drawing at the end of the summer.

4. Share Your Progress

We love to see our community excited about reading and having fun at the library! Share your adventures with us on social media using the hashtag #GPTXLibraryAdventures.

5. Celebrate Your Success

At the end of the summer, we’ll celebrate everyone’s achievements with a Summer Finale. Everyone is invited to join us for fun activities, crafts, photo opportunities and more. It’s a great way to wrap up a summer full of reading adventures!
